5G BEAM
5G infrastructure for SEcure and Safe MObility and logistics
5G-BEAM is a project aimed at ensuring continuous and uninterrupted 5G coverage along the Brenner corridor, enabling the development of advanced services for connected and automated mobility (CCAM).
Through the implementation of a 5G infrastructure spanning approximately 424 km, from Modena to Kufstein at the border between Austria and Germany, the project aims to create a digital ecosystem capable of supporting innovative applications in the transport and logistics sectors.
On the Italian side, 5G-BEAM plans to implement a Standalone 5G network integrated with edge computing solutions along the Brenner highway, while on the Austrian side, a passive 5G-ready infrastructure will be developed, ensuring continuity and interoperability at the cross-border level.
The project thus contributes to the strengthening of European digital infrastructures, promoting safer, more efficient, and connected mobility along one of the continent's main strategic corridors.
