Communicating Sustainability: Innovations in Material Recycling and New Production Technologies for the Automotive Sector

The CO-SMART project aims to enhance the activities of MOST in the field of sustainable mobility, promoting eco-friendly materials, innovative prototypes, and collaboration between research, industry, and the public. The initiative involves the presentation of prototypes developed in the closed-call projects SUSTAINED, POC BOOSTER, and in the current AMATEVI and ECO-FRIEND projects, at national and international events, accompanied by a tour in Italy at the locations of Spoke 11 and 14.

The prototypes include bio-based polyurethane foam panels from used vegetable oils, parts printed from fishing nets and recycled carbon fibers, electrospun fabrics with antimicrobial properties for car interiors, and sustainable biofuels. These solutions combine sustainability, circular economy, and energy efficiency, addressing the challenges of mobility and environmental impact.

CO-SMART integrates research activities and multidimensional communication strategies, with events, exhibitions, and a focus on raising awareness among students, young researchers, the public, and industrial stakeholders. The project promotes networking, knowledge exchange, and international visibility, highlighting the role of Italian universities in sustainable innovation and positioning Italy as a leader in the design of eco-friendly materials for the automotive sector.

The journey concludes with a final event at the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile di Torino, which reinforces the dialogue between research, industry, and the community, consolidating a dissemination model that combines technological innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
