The car-sharing of the future starts from Brescia

January 22, 2025
Imagine an electric FIAT500 that autonomously picks you up, takes you to your destination, and, without your intervention, continues on to the next customer or a charging station. Sounds like science fiction?
Today in Brescia, a trial has begun aimed at revolutionizing urban mobility: a project for autonomous car sharing, developed by a2a together with the Politecnico di Milano within the MOST - National Center for Sustainable Mobility.
During the press conference, held at the auditorium of the a2a Waste-to-Energy Plant, Renato Mazzoncini (CEO a2a), Sergio M. Savaresi, and Dario Zaninelli (Politecnico di Milano), Laura Castelletti (Mayor of Brescia), and the President of MOST, Ferruccio Resta, spoke.
The initiative represents a new approach to urban mobility, integrating autonomous driving and electrification aimed at reducing traffic, simplifying movements, and making cities more livable. Brescia is the laboratory for a revolution that could soon involve cities across Europe.
As highlighted by the President of MOST Ferruccio Resta, the project is a concrete example of collaborative innovation, capable of tackling the challenges of sustainability and accelerating the transition towards more livable cities.
