Talk 11: innovative materials and weight reduction for sustainable mobility

February 6, 2025

The Polytechnic University of Bari will host an interesting meeting promoted by Spoke11 of MOST, dedicated to the themes of lightweight vehicles with a focus on sustainability, recycling, and reuse.
The event will offer the opportunity to explore the advantages derived from innovation in the field of materials, processes, and design strategies aimed at structural lightweighting, laying the foundations for a more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced future in the transport sector.
Among the topics discussed, innovation in metallic, polymeric, and composite materials as well as technologies to improve the safety and efficiency of vehicles will be central to the discussion. These topics represent the pillars of Spoke11, “Innovative Materials and Lightweighting,” coordinated by Professor Lorella Ceschini from Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna. Within the project, thanks to close collaboration between public and private entities, multidisciplinary skills are integrated to pursue environmental sustainability and technological innovation goals.
The event will see the participation of researchers from some of the leading Italian universities, in addition to the CNR, and prominent international industrial partners such as Pirelli, Ferrari, Stellantis, Eni Versalis, and Leonardo, who will actively contribute to the discussion with their skills and experiences.
