Spoke 4 and 13: innovation for railway and electric mobility

The National Center for Sustainable Mobility MOST will present the progress of the works of Spoke 4 and 13, coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Milan, dedicated to innovation in the field of sustainable mobility.

Spoke 4 aims to make rail transport more efficient, sustainable, and safe. The projects focus on: reducing CO2 emissions, digitizing railway infrastructure, and developing advanced technologies such as electric and hybrid traction, lightweight materials for trains, and predictive maintenance using big data and artificial intelligence.

Spoke 13 is dedicated to the development of advanced solutions for electric traction and energy storage. Key activities include: designing efficient power converters, electrochemical batteries, and ultra-fast charging systems. A particular focus is placed on the sustainability of materials and integration with renewable energy sources.
