Trip to University
The UNITRIP PoC project aimed at developing a mobile application, called OSM2App, designed for university students, offering multimodal transport options. Thanks to the app, university students, who are the target audience, select their course calendar to efficiently plan their commuting to classes. The use of OpenTripPlanner as open-source software minimized costs and ensured compatibility with NeTEx and GTFS data, integrating with the DS&SRF platform for Mobility as a Service (MaaS). The app generates convenient and time-efficient routes, promoting sustainable travel choices among students. By incorporating alternative transport modes like scooters, it enhances university life and mobility options for the community. Students can customize their trips by choosing from various transport modes and selecting routes that fit their preferences. Real-time navigation assists their journey, facilitating smooth interaction within the student community. OSM2App emphasizes functionality, reliability, and the evolving necessity of such applications, which enhance mobility and awareness of resources within their local environment.
