what do we do
]
We measure, analyze, and anticipate the evolution of road mobility
RESEARCH
SUNRISE continuously develops and updates models and reference databases on road mobility, starting from the Green Paper. Through surveys on travel habits and preferences for sustainable mobility, we reconstruct the demand for passenger and freight transport, building a solid and up-to-date knowledge of mobility behaviors.
ANALYSIS
The Observatory analyzes emissions, energy consumption, and costs of various technological solutions and energy carriers, evaluating the Total Cost of Operation. We develop evolutionary scenarios for demand and policies of avoid, shift, improve, monitor the evolution of infrastructures – including those for hydrogen – and follow updates to the regulatory framework and national and European policies. Constant attention is given to technological transformations in road transport and their impacts on sustainability.
RESULTS
The activities of SUNRISE generate valuable evidence to support strategic decisions, public policies, and industrial investments. Through discussions and coordination with strategic stakeholders, the Observatory helps to guide the transition of road mobility towards more sustainable, efficient models that align with climate objectives.
